Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), will participate in the 110th International District Energy Association (IDEA) Conference and Tradeshow 2019, which will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, from 24 to 27 June, under the slogan ‘The Energy for More Resilient Cities’.
Bin Shafar will also attend the IDEA Board meeting, which has been scheduled on the sidelines of the conference, as a member of the Board of Directors of IDEA, a position that he holds as the first Arab and Emirati since 2013. IDEA is a non-profit organisation that facilitates the exchange of information among individuals working in the district cooling industry. During the Board meeting, Bin Shafar will highlight the changes and developments in the district cooling sector and the future prospects for the renewable and clean energy industry by sharing ideas on new trends that support sustainable energy in modern cities. Bin Shafar will also take part in the opening session entitled ‘De-carbonizing Cities with District Energy’.
Empower will participate in a series of panel discussions, workshops, meetings, seminars and field visits, on the sidelines of this annual global event. IDEA Annual Conference and Tradeshow brings together the world's energy and cooling industry experts to discuss key issues in the district cooling sector and energy challenges, and highlight the most innovative technologies in the district energy solutions. The conference stresses the importance of district cooling as a strategic option to ensure energy efficiency in the future.
