Saudi Electricity Company has signed off on a deal that will see 10million smart meters installed across the kingdom.

A portion of the $2.55billion project will be executed by Etihad Etisalat Co (Mobily) and Al-Fanar Construction in central and Eastern areas, while China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Co will carry out the remainder of the work in the West and South.

Zawya reports that the project will be funded through SEC’s internal resources as well as external financing.

It is also reported that 3.5million meters will be purchased from local manufacturers.

The project is expected to be completed by Q1 2023.
