Utico commissions desalination plant in Ras Al Khaimah

Utico will bring its total output to 70million gallons per day with the commissioning of an additional facility in Ras Al Khaimah.

The UAE’s only private water and power company said it would be taking on 100 new members of staff to work at the Dh750mn desalination facility, slated to come on stream in 2020.

Based in Al Hamra, the facility will make an additional 30million gallons of water available to consumers across the Northern Emirates.

Water will be supplied from RAK through Utico’s $100million trans-emirates pipeline developed last year.

“The high quality drinking water will be available to 2.5million customers in RAK, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah,” Menezes confirmed.
