All roads lead to Expo 2020 at present, and the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) underlined that sentiment by opening Phases 3 and 4 of routes that seek to smooth traffic flow to the site.

State-held news agency Wam reports the completion of infrastructure works including intersections at Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street with both Expo and Al Yalayes Streets; two flyovers on Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street at Dubai Investment Park; and widening of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street from two to five lanes in each direction.

The $353million project covers 5km of bridges and 17km of roads in total, and has been undertaken in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to expedite the construction of roads and transport systems supporting the hosting of Expo 2020.

Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of RTA, said: "The improvement of roads leading to Expo is one of the biggest roads’ projects currently undertaken by RTA to meet the needs of hosting Expo 2020 in Dubai.

“Due to the immense nature of the project, it had been divided into six phases to ensure the delivery of all works on the prescribed timeline, well before the opening of Expo."
