Emirates Green Building Council chief says UAE on defined path to sustainable development

The chairman of Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) says the UAE is on a defined path to sustainable development.

Speaking during the recent Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing & Urban Development, Saeed Al Abbar explained that the country has a national-level commitment to net-zero carbon building.

Last month the UAE put pen to paper on the ‘Zero Carbon Buildings for All Initiative’ in New York.

Al Abbar said: "Measuring and disclosing annual asset and portfolio emissions, implementing a decarbonisation roadmap towards energy efficiency and renewable energy, verifying the progress towards net-zero carbon assets, and acting as a catalyst for further action are the needs of the hour, in what is being termed the ‘Climate Decade’.

"Working together, we can achieve the goal."
