MEP Awards 2018: Al Shafar United wins Health and Safety award

In 2017, ASU celebrated 10,000,000 Safe Man Work Hours Without LTI (lost time injury) for Blue Waters Residential Project.

Al Shafar United (ASU) won the Health and Safety Initiative of the Year at the 2018 MEP Middle East Awards.

In 2017, ASU celebrated 10,000,000 Safe Man Work Hours Without LTI (lost-time injury) for Blue Waters Residential Project. The initiative of this firm has attempted to improve the health and wellbeing of the workforce. For example, having on-site fitness programs at various project sites. In addition, there was a monthly incentive program for safe behaviour at the EXPO2020 project to boost workforce morale. The firm also provided comprehensive awareness and training to workforce for ongoing learning and development.

Talking about the win, Khaled Sharbatly, general manager, ASU, said: “This award means a lot to us. Safety is one of our core values and a part of our company strategy. This recognition proves that we’ve adopted the right policies for health and safety, and it encourages us to pursue more safety initiatives next year.”

Al Shafar United for Electro-mechanical Engineering LLC (ASU) is an ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001:2015, OHSAS 18001:2007 certified electro-mechanical flagship company of ASGC Group. ASU was established as an electro-mechanical department in ASGC in 1989, taking part in development projects being carried out in Dubai. In the year 2007, ASU was launched as an independent Electro-mechanical Limited Liability Company under the umbrella of ASGC charged to look after electro-mechanical contracts.
