Leminar Air Conditioning Company LLC took on the challenge of Expo’s 2020 Al Wasl Pavilion after being approached by architecture consultant Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill and mechanical consultant Hoare Lea.
The major challenge the firm faced was that the indoor fan coil units required for the project to be aligned at differing angles, which would be challenging in terms of blower operational dynamics and condensate drain water removal.
Leminar, along with manufacturer Rheem, decided to make a mock-up unit which showed positive results.
For further tests on stress analysis and operational capability the units were air freighted to manufacturer of the Al Wasl ‘pods’, Mexican outfit Grupo Kinetica.
The units were installed successfully in the pods and passed the stress analysis, which proved the robust construction and design of the machine, one of the 360+1 policies of Rheem Manufacturing company USA.
