A building-energy simulation course will be conducted by chartered engineer and LEED Accredited Professional Allan Millin in April.

“This is a great course for learning how to assess energy consumption and evaluate the results of any changes people are thinking of making,” says Millin.

The course will introduce the fundamentals of air-con load estimation, following on with a comprehensive introduction to building energy simulation using the ‘eQuest’ software application, which is supplied free of charge. Course topics include load estimating methods, ‘rules of thumb’ data, internal, external and equipment loads, ‘U’ factors, creating a software-based model and building energy simulation.

The course is delivered using I-P units only as the software does not support SI units. Delegates should bring their own laptop computers. Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to select a suitable method for load estimation, model a basic building in a software application and generate energy-simulation data.

“This is a recommended course for anyone who designs, owns or operates buildings and/or air-con systems, including architects, LEED professionals, end-users, field service technicians, engineers, facility managers and consulting engineers,” says Millin.

Millin is an independent consultant, coach and trainer based in Dubai. He has over 35 years’ experience in the HVAC industry, and has led the consultancy mission of two major Dubai FM companies.
