The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) has recognised HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive officer of Empower, for supporting its District Cooling Guide.
At a corporate level, Empower was acknowledged for its assistance in updating the guidelines, and for extending its backing of the ASHRAE District Cooling Guide for Building Owners, which is designed to raise awareness of district cooling-related energy savings among property owners.
Commenting on the recognition, HE Bin Shafar said: "I am honoured to receive this recognition from ASHRAE. I'd like to thank Mr Tim Wentz, ASHRAE president, and the rest of [the] ASHRAE management team for their continuous support and enthusiasm.
"The recognition not only projects us as global leaders in district cooling, but also showcases our passion to help industry specialists and customers grow, innovate, and succeed," he added.
Following more than 13 years of association between Empower and ASHRAE, the ASHRAE District Cooling Guide and the ASHRAE District Cooling Guide for Building Owners are now widely used as reference documents among the global heating and cooling community.
ASHRAE's Wentz commented: “Empower’s ongoing partnership with ASHRAE has enabled us to develop and distribute cutting-edge design, operations, and maintenance criteria for district energy systems. Our goal is to create a ‘must-have’ reference for those that seek to take advantage of the energy savings and sustainability offered by district energy systems, which made possible with Empower’s generous support.
"Taking this as an opportunity, I would like to thank Empower for its kind support and also extend my appreciation to HE Ahmad Bin Shafar and his team for joining us in Las Vegas for the ASHRAE Winter Conference and Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigerating Exposition (AHR Expo). It was a great pleasure to meet the team and we sincerely appreciate the time and effort invested by the team at the event."
