Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) showcased a smart streetlight system at GITEX 2016.
The platform is in line with RTA's efforts to align with Dubai Government's efforts towards its Smart City initiative.
Remarking on the new systems, Eng Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA's traffic and roads agency, said: "RTA presented three systems at GITEX this year.
"The trio-systems, which support the green economy requirements by reducing carbon emissions, include the Central Wireless Road Lighting Control System that sets multiple synchronised timetables for dimming streetlights.
"It can reduce energy consumption, increase lamps lifetime and cut road lighting maintenance costs."
RTA also displayed high-definition pedestrian detection camera systems at the show.
"[The camera system] can generate pedestrian statistics in terms of number, sex, and age group.
"A new feature in the smart lighting systems is a tentative WiFi service installed in Dubai Water Canal at Sheikh Zayed Road," Adai added, according to Dubai Media Office.
