Al-Futtaim Engineering has announced the signing of two contracts with the Ministry of Public Works to provide Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) and civil maintenance work to over 500 buildings across the UAE.
The two-year, multi-million dirham contracts will see the Al-Futtaim company’s Facilities Management division maintain 334 buildings in the Eastern and Northern Emirates and 189 buildings in Dubai and Ajman. The buildings are a mix of schools, mosques, healthcare centres and hospitals.
Subramanya Rao, divisional manager of Al-Futtaim Engineering Facilities Management said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with the Ministry of Public Works on these major projects. These contracts, in addition to adding to our existing list of government clients, reinforce Al-Futtaim Engineering’s reputation as a trusted partner in providing high quality services to all our customers.”
Headquartered in Dubai, Al-Futtaim Engineering’s Facilities Management division has worked on projects for a variety of public bodies, including Ministry of Education, Government of Sharjah, Dubai Municipality, as well as major UAE companies such as dnata, Emirates Aluminum, Dubai Islamic bank and ADCB.
The Ministry of Education contract was awarded to the company’s MEP maintenance division in February of this year.
A multi-million dirham deal, the contract is seeing the Al-Futtaim group company undertake the maintenance of electrical, plumbing, firefighting, fire alarm and civil works for 72 government schools in Dubai and Sharjah.
This new contract was in addition to the Ministry of Education’s earlier agreement with Al-Futtaim Engineering to undertake maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) facilities covering 250 schools in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
