A major MEP player says it is bucking the downward trend while still managing to double its yearly turnover, all because of its service delivery. “MEP is a business where, if you provide a good service, you are called upon again and again,” says Al-Futtaim Engineering MD Dawood Bin Ozair.

“In 2004, in fact, we doubled our business from 2003, and since then we are doubling every year almost – and in each business segment we are involved in. Since most of the projects require major MEP services, we have also doubled our turnover in this sector year-on-year.”

Looking to the future, Ozair says the company has a solid order book taking it well into 2010, mainly due to it managing to secure work outside Dubai. “We are very hopeful about the future.

“A major criterion of a company’s progress is recruitment, and our workforce has been expanding from 2007 until today. We have not been as adversely affected as some other companies, and are still growing.”

Part of the Al-Futtaim Group, Al-Futtaim Engineering is a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation operating across the UAE and Qatar, with over 30 years of successful operations. It is also looking to expand further into Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The company provides total solutions to the building industry through its proven expertise in scaffolding and formwork, elevators and escalators, MEP, security and low-voltage systems, air-conditioning, building products and facilities management.
